Sacred Companions
For the Mystery of Motherhood
Motherhood as a Messy Spiritual Practice
Long for a thriving spirituality AND deal with the reality of mouths to feed and butts to wipe?
Desire time for spacious contemplation AND can’t remember the last time you went to the bathroom alone?
Trust that you have inner God-given wisdom AND struggle to hear it above the insta-experts that are so dang put together?
Sacred Companions is a Spiritual Direction Group and book club for moms who desire to parent as a spiritual practice.
Why Group Spiritual Direction?
Group Spiritual Direction grants the spacious support to pause, rest, and open up some of the more difficult moments of life and motherhood to God and others on the same journey.
In Group Direction, you get the opportunity to be the directee and the director.
The goal is to practice opening our awareness to God through holy listening. As we practice holding space for each other, we become more attuned to the movements of the Divine in our life, even our parenting. Imagine identifying the Spirit's presence during the next no-holds-bar tantrum!

A desire to find God in their parenting. (Key word: desire — this could feel like a far-off dream at this moment)
A longing for companionship.
A willingness to be vulnerable by actively participating without advice giving or solution finding.
Are you a clergy member or pastor?
There is a special cohort just for you! Everyone needs a space to fall apart and not have people worry that you won’t be able to do your job the next day.

“Sacred Companions has been a space to delve richly into myself, my relationships with my husband and young daughter, and with Love. Annalise expertly, candidly, and kindly holds space for each group member individually and as a group to be changed through reflection and conversation. I greeted the opportunity to bring my whole self: my messiness, my difficulty in finding words to describe my faith right now, and my eagerness to experience community around the profound art of a being a human raising another human.. Showing up in that way has proven to be a powerful force for my growth in the last year. I recommend this group to anyone looking to engage in life and parenting with bravery and depth! And you might be surprised by forming beautiful new friendships, too!”

“In my fast paced life as an entrepreneur, wife, and mother of three, I seldom get a moment to stop and reflect. Even when I do get those moments, it is rarely about being a mother. I have fought hard to keep my time and participation in Sacred Companions, and it has brought out much needed reflection on the priorities in my life and not feeling so alone in the day to day battles that I fight. Annalise's format is gentle, thoughtful, and always creative - each session has spoken to a part of myself that was starved for attention.”
What does a Cohort look like?
5 mothers from around the country
One online 2-hour retreat each month, September-May.
The first hour is spent trying a new spiritual practice and conversing about the year’s book.
The second hour is focused on Group Spiritual Direction.
Cost
$297 total ($33 a session)
However, the cost should never be a hindrance to seeking companionship. If this doesn’t work for your budget right now, I would be more than glad to have a conversation about what would be just and kind to you at this point.

“Sacred Companions has been a surprising gift of grace for me— a stream of water in a desert. At a critical time when I was figuring out being a mom and following Jesus in a new season of life, this group of women became trustworthy conduits of God’s love and presence. Annalise is a wise and gentle guide, creating space for God’s activity to be witnessed anew."
